First things first: it's pronounced "shove-on" (actually, it's pronounced more like "shiv-on" but I use a hand motion to teach people how to say it in person, and miming a shove is less jarring than miming a shiv).

Whether I'm writing fantasy or romance, I always infuse my stories with magic.

 

Like most writers, I've wanted to write since I was a child. Blah blah blah, big deal. I remember reading a great story Stephen King wrote when he was like, seven. At seven I was plagiarizing my favorite stories because I had no original ideas. 

​

Luckily, that changed.

​

I have around fifty novel ideas to date and most of them have come to me in dreams. True Lore is my debut after decades of wishing, hoping, having no idea what I was doing, struggling with perfectionism and low self-esteem, getting treatment for perfectionism and low self-esteem, and finally hiring a book coach to help me learn the craft of storytelling. 

 

The Night Parlor is my debut romance novel and came after a feminist and sexual awakening.

 

Current Work in Progress: a dark fantasy romance about nightmare demon folklore.
